Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days onsite in hirify.global offices in Chicago, Illinois; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Atlanta, Georgia; or Jacksonville, Florida.

Salary: $99,040–$168,380 USD annual.

What you will do

• Lead the development and delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions.
• Build backend systems and user interfaces using Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, QA engineers, and other cross-functional partners in an agile environment.
• Analyze complex technical problems and optimize systems for performance and reliability.
• Conduct code reviews, uphold security and coding standards, and mentor junior engineers.
• Contribute to the technology roadmap through emerging technologies and innovative solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in SaaS or fintech.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Micronaut, RESTful APIs, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Git, and modern software engineering practices.
• Ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems and deliver robust, scalable software.
• Current and future visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and similar project management tools.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
