Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid in Newark, NJ, NYC, or Edgewood, NY; office attendance two days per week with remote work the rest of the time.

Salary: $130,000–$135,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain Node.js microservices in a Lerna-managed monorepo using Express.js and NestJS.
• Architect scalable solutions for high-throughput financial data processing.
• Optimize MySQL database performance with Prisma and Sequelize.
• Implement message queue systems with AWS SQS, Redis, and BullMQ.
• Lead code reviews, mentor junior developers, and collaborate on API design and OpenAPI specifications.
• Improve testing, Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, and reliability across distributed production services.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production Node.js experience.
• Expert TypeScript knowledge, including type inference and advanced patterns.
• Experience with MySQL optimization, query performance tuning, migration strategies, and both Prisma and Sequelize.
• Production experience with message queuing such as AWS SQS, Redis, or BullMQ.
• Knowledge of unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies.
• Experience with Docker, multi-stage builds, container orchestration, and optimization.

Nice to have

• NestJS and REST API development expertise.
• Financial services or fintech experience.
• Experience with AWS services including SQS, S3, and LocalStack.
• Experience migrating legacy codebases while maintaining production stability.
• Familiarity with conventional commits, semantic versioning, Redis caching, and job queue management.
