TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor): Sustaining the design, fabrication, and performance characterization of opto-mechanical modules, precision mechanisms, mechanical packaging, racks, chassis, and mechatronic systems with an accent on semiconductor reticle inspection equipment, mechanical analysis, and manufacturing transfer. Focus on developing designs from requirements and feasibility studies through FEA, thermal and CFD analysis, prototype testing, system integration, and manufacturing handoff.

What you will do

  • Sustain legacy RAPID systems in high-volume manufacturing and address component obsolescence.
  • Design, fabricate, test, and characterize opto-mechanical modules, precision mechanisms, mechanical packaging, racks, chassis, and mechatronic systems.
  • Develop requirements, perform feasibility studies, FEA, thermal, CFD, conceptual, and detailed design analyses.
  • Create detail drawings, lead design reviews, procure prototype parts, support prototype testing and system integration, and hand designs off to manufacturing.
  • Build vendor relationships and support component fabrication, process transfer, and qualification.
  • Resolve mechanical design and manufacturing issues throughout the product lifecycle while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and new product introduction teams.

Requirements

  • Doctorate with 0 years of related experience, master's degree with 3 years of related experience, or bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design, testing, troubleshooting, and physics and mechanics.
  • Understanding of tolerance analysis, GD&T, error budgeting, finite element analysis, creep and stress relaxation, and modal analysis.
  • Experience with thermal analysis, including heat transfer, temperature gradients, thermal transients, and thermo-elastic analysis.
  • Familiarity with machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and other mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D solid-modeling CAD; ProE/Creo is preferred.
