TL;DR
Regional Transmission Engineer (Engineering): Performing complex power system planning studies and economic assessments to ensure grid reliability with an accent on transmission system policies and generation interconnection processes. Focus on conducting power flow, stability, and contingency analyses to support the safe and efficient operation of the California power grid.
Location: Must be based in the USA (Remote or Hybrid in Folsom, CA). Relocation assistance is available.
Salary: $95,025 – $163,695 annually (depending on experience level).

What you will do
- Perform and review technical analyses for economic assessments of the transmission grid.
- Conduct power flow, transient stability, and local capacity requirement studies.
- Coordinate planning studies with transmission owners and stakeholders to produce annual transmission plans.
- Implement Transmission Planning Process and Generation Interconnection Process manuals.
- Resolve engineering-related problems and participate in path rating studies.
- Represent the organization in WECC committees and public industry forums.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of directly related experience (5+ years for Senior level).
- Experience in the electric utility industry with an emphasis on power system planning or operation.
- Proficiency with power flow programs such as GE-PSLF.
- General aptitude for programming (Python) and office tools (MS-Access, MS-Excel).
- Must be authorized to work in the USA.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered California Engineer-In-Training or Professional Engineering License.
- Knowledge of statistics, quantitative economics, and resource planning.
