What you will do

• Set the long-term technical strategy for the Capacity Modeling team and align it with business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to manage technical sustainability and trade-offs.
• Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes.
• Own team operations, monitoring, and on-call playbooks to ensure high system availability.
• Establish code review and design standards to foster a culture of quality and ownership.
• Provide guidance and feedback to develop technical talent within the engineering team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing and launching scalable backend systems using Python or Kotlin.
• Extensive experience with highly available distributed systems (AWS, MySQL, Spark, Kubernetes).
• Proven track record of supporting large-scale sales events (e.g., Black Friday, Prime Day).
• Expertise in tuning autoscaling, CPU/Memory, and multi-threading for compute workloads.
• Strong ability to define technical execution plans for major features or system deprecations.
• Must be based in Canada.
