Software Engineer, Backend (Fintech)

Location: Menlo Park, California, or New York City, United States; in-person attendance is expected at least 3 days per week.

Salary: $130,000–$195,000 USD annual base pay, depending on compensation zone and work location, plus bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services, infrastructure, and data systems.
• Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements for brokerage, incentives, identity verification, KYC, and fraud prevention.
• Improve system performance, engineering productivity, maintainability, and risk reduction.
• Work with client teams, engineering, product, operations, data science, security, and external vendors.
• Support trading infrastructure, personalized rewards, financial product launches, and expansion into additional financial services.

Requirements

• 2+ years of software development experience.
• Experience delivering large-scope technical projects in cross-functional environments.
• Strong backend development and system design skills, with an understanding of product and engineering interactions.
• Proficiency in Go or Python.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar data streaming technologies.
• Experience managing and processing large-scale datasets, with high standards for code quality and reviews.

Nice to have

• Experience in fintech or at a financial institution.
• Familiarity with Postgres, Kubernetes, Redis, AWS, or similar cloud platforms.
