TL;DR

Intern, Legal (Automotive): Supporting the General Counsel and legal team with corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial transactions with an accent on the electric vehicle industry. Focus on drafting contracts, conducting legal research on EV incentives, and supporting strategic partnerships.

Location: Garden Grove, CA. Requires a commitment of 4 days in-office per week.

Compensation: $25-35 USD per hour.

Company

American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company developing a first-of-its-kind platform for medium-duty EVs and Hybrids.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and revise contracts including NDAs, supplier agreements, and customer agreements.
• Conduct legal research on compliance issues and incentives relevant to the commercial EV industry.
• Support government affairs initiatives through policy research and engagement strategies.
• Assist in due diligence and documentation for JVs, partnerships, and strategic transactions.
• Develop internal legal processes to enhance operational efficiency and risk management.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a J.D. program (1L or 2L preferred).
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Interest in corporate, commercial, regulatory, and transactional law.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Must be based in or able to work from Garden Grove, CA (4 days/week in-office).
