Resident Product Engineer (Automotive)

TL;DR

Resident Product Engineer (Automotive): Supporting production operations by representing Design and Product Engineering at manufacturing sites with an accent on root cause analysis of quality issues and design-to-manufacturing feedback. Focus on leading the resolution of assembly issues, managing design change requests, and optimizing BOD/BOM through DFM/DFA experience.

Location: Onsite in Toledo, Ohio. GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.

What you will do

• Act as the primary focal point for communicating product and process issues between Product Engineering and Manufacturing Plant personnel.
• Lead the resolution of component, subsystem, and assembly issues related to engineering design and specifications.
• Perform root cause analysis to address warranty and material scrap issues, establishing salvage and repair procedures.
• Support the introduction of new designs and change requests through PTRs, ETRs, and plant readiness reviews.
• Collaborate with Plant Floor Change Management to assess manufacturing changes impacting hardware quality.
• Support the execution of pilot, preproduction, and prototype build activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years of transmission design-release-validation-quality experience.
• Comprehensive understanding of Engineering Change Management, GPDP, PRTS-JIRA, DFMEA/PFMEA, and PPAP.
• Strong knowledge of engineering theory and operating principles of Energy Conversion Systems.
• Must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Advanced Degree in Engineering or Business.
• Manufacturing experience in casting, machining, and assembly.
• Red X or DFSS certification.
• Multiple DRE assignments with successful achievements.
