Product Engineer (Frontend Platform): Own the frontend architecture and platform layer behind core product experiences, including application frameworks, the API and data layer, testing infrastructure, and client performance. Focus on designing reliable shared primitives and contracts, instrumenting real user journeys, and rolling out cross-cutting changes safely for high-traffic, latency-sensitive workloads.
Location: Foster City, CA (Hybrid; in-office requirement Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
Salary: $200K–$300K base + equity

What you will do
- Design and evolve frontend platform APIs and shared primitives with clear contracts, documentation, and upgrade paths.
- Build and operate the API and data layer (including error handling and caching) used across core product surfaces.
- Profile and instrument real user journeys, then ship changes that improve key performance metrics.
- Roll out cross-cutting frontend changes safely using codemods, migration paths, and staged rollouts.
- Set technical direction in architecture reviews and document decisions and operational expectations.
- Partner with product, design engineering, and DevEx to turn product friction into reusable platform improvements.
Requirements
- Experience shipping and operating user-facing software in production.
- Frontend architecture experience other teams build on (frameworks, state, routing, SSR/CSR, migrations).
- Experience building and operating an API/data layer (REST/GraphQL, error handling, caching).
- Experience measuring and improving client performance with instrumentation and monitoring.
- Comfort with modern web stacks: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js.
