TL;DR

Senior Power Electronics Engineer (Power Electronics): Designing and delivering high-power, grid-connected converter hardware with an accent on early-stage architecture and the full hardware development lifecycle. Focus on driving innovation in power converter architectures to achieve industry-leading efficiency, power density, and reliability.

Location: On-site in Scotts Valley, USA. Work authorization in the United States is required.

Salary: $120,000–$200,000 per year

What you will do

  • Architect, design, and deliver grid-tied power converters from concept through production.
  • Manage the full hardware development lifecycle, including requirements definition, modeling, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
  • Develop detailed electrical models of converter circuits to support performance analysis and design optimization.
  • Select power components and design protection circuitry ensuring compliance with safety and grid standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, reliability, and manufacturing teams for seamless integration.
  • Innovate power converter architectures to improve efficiency and power density.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in the design and industrialization of power converters.
  • Deep understanding of power electronics topologies and high-voltage semiconductor devices (IGBTs, Si/SiC MOSFETs).
  • Strong expertise in magnetic component design and capacitor selection for high-voltage/high-frequency operation.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools such as SPICE, PLECS, LTspice, or Simulink and lab instrumentation.
  • Work authorization in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Experience with medium-voltage systems (5kV–35kV), including insulation coordination and partial discharge.
  • Familiarity with grid-tied hardware such as switchgear, circuit breakers, or protective relays.
  • Background in reliability engineering and accelerated life testing (HALT, HASS, FMEA).
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes for high-power assemblies (busbars, potting, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with test automation using Python or LabVIEW.
