What you will do

• Own the architectural design of power systems for microreactors in both grid-connected and islanded modes.
• Develop detailed single-line diagrams and conduct FMEA to identify redundancy paths and failure behaviors.
• Analyze system performance during disturbances such as load steps, faults, and loss-of-generation events.
• Size energy storage systems and manage synchronization across multiple reactors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate power electronics and generator controls seamlessly.
• Validate system performance through software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in power systems or control systems
• 5+ years of experience designing power systems for generation, microgrids, or mission-critical applications
• Must be able to work 100% onsite in El Segundo, CA
• Must be a U.S. person due to U.S. export controls on this technology
• Proficiency with power system modeling and simulation tools such as PSCAD, ETAP, PSS®E, or Simulink
• Strong understanding of inverters, grid converters, and power system control modes like droop control

Nice to have

• M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience with high-power, medium-voltage power electronics development
• Familiarity with IEEE standards, grid codes, and interconnection requirements
• Exposure to nuclear, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries
