What you will do
- Design and optimize the interface between Autonomy and Mission Control, Remote Assistance, and Route Advisor systems.
- Lead the development of real-time C++ components for vehicle guidance and status monitoring.
- Translate system-level requirements into scalable software architectures and verification artifacts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (perception, controls, safety) for end-to-end system integration.
- Mentor peers through technical reviews and implement software engineering best practices.
- Integrate machine learning techniques for route-rerouting, behavior prediction, and tactical decision making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in CS, Robotics, or EE with 4+ years experience (or Master's with 1-3+ years).
- Strong C++ programming skills (C++14/17 or later) for real-time, safety-critical applications.
- Proven experience in architecting and implementing embedded software solutions.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and kinematic models (e.g., bicycle model, Ackermann steering).
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code following software engineering best practices.
- Location: Must be based in or be able to relocate to Ann Arbor, MI.
Nice to have
- Professional Python development experience (2-5 years).
- Familiarity with ROS/ROS2, Autoware, Apollo, and communication protocols like CAN and Ethernet.
- Experience with observability platforms like Datadog, Tableau, or Foxglove.
- Understanding of safety standards such as ISO 26262, SOTIF, and ASPICE.
- Experience with SIL, HIL, and vehicle testing.
