What you will do

  • Manage a full caseload from the receipt of papers to the resolution of costs.
  • Formulate initial costs strategies and settlement parameters through proactive case review.
  • Prepare points of dispute, evaluate replies, and document case strengths and weaknesses.
  • Conduct negotiations via telephone and perform advocacy at court hearings, detailed assessments, and mediations.
  • Provide regular progress reports to clients and ensure strict compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.
  • Mentor and delegate technical tasks to paralegals to support their development.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 months of experience as a costs negotiator (claimant or defendant) handling own caseload.
  • Degree and/or LPC and/or ALCD qualification.
  • Practical experience with the Detailed Assessment process and preparing Points of Dispute.
  • Strong telephone negotiation, listening, and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of current cost case law and insurance litigation practices.
  • Must be based in or able to work from the Birmingham or Liverpool offices on a hybrid basis
