What you will do
- Define and enforce workshop standards for cleanliness, tool placement, and machine usage while ensuring safety is never compromised.
- Own maintenance cycles for CNC portal, manual lathe, and large 3D printing farm (FDM, Resin, and SLS/PA11).
- Provide hands-on guidance to engineers, including over-the-shoulder support and troubleshooting of physical build issues.
- Manage R&D inventory and materials, and support selection/commissioning of future high-end metal CNC machinery.
- Lead the team in building complex prototypes (e.g., UAV airframes, radio link towers, specialized test stands).
- Oversee additive manufacturing operations by prioritizing jobs and ensuring quality of functional PA11 SLS parts.
Requirements
- Certified Master Craftsman (Meister) or Senior Technician in a mechanical field (e.g., Feinwerkmechanik, Industriemechanik, Modellbau, or Aviation/Fluggerätmechanik).
- Experience in a prototyping or R&D environment managing both machines and people.
- Strong hands-on machining experience with manual lathes and CNC machines (milling/portal).
- Solid understanding of additive manufacturing processes (FDM and Resin) and practical experience with SLS (PA11) as a strong advantage.
- Ability to work with CAD/CAM tools such as CATIA / 3DEXPERIENCE (plus).
- Experience with aviation or defense-related manufacturing standards (big plus).
