Flight Operations & Safety Lead (UAS Flight Test)

What you will do

• Lead regulatory and operational approvals for UAS flight-test campaigns across Europe.
• Prepare submissions and manage compliance with EASA, LBA, and other National Aviation Authorities.
• Develop operational risk assessments, safety cases, flight safety procedures, airspace coordination plans, and emergency processes.
• Maintain flight authorisations, permits, approvals, and operational readiness across flight operations.
• Develop the Safety Management System, lead occurrence reporting and investigations, and track corrective actions.
• Oversee pilot and operator qualifications, training compliance, competency management, audits, and safety reporting.

Requirements

• 4–8 years of experience in aviation safety, flight operations management, or regulatory compliance.
• Deep working knowledge of EASA Regulation (EU) 2019/947, the SORA methodology, and the PDRA framework.
• Hands-on experience preparing and submitting operational authorisation applications to at least one European National Aviation Authority.
• Practical experience with Safety Management Systems, occurrence reporting, internal auditing, safety risk management, and safety performance monitoring.
• Familiarity with EASA Part 21 and national Military Airworthiness Authorities for experimental permits or test-flight authorisations.
• Business-fluent English required; German is strongly preferred for interaction with LBA and Bundeswehr.

Nice to have

• 1–3 years of direct UAS/RPAS operations experience.
• ISO 9001 or AS9100 Lead Auditor certification.
• SORA training from an EASA-recognised or JARUS-accredited provider.
• Experience with military airworthiness authorities, aviation insurance processes, or experimental flight testing.
• Knowledge of NATO munitions safety standards for loitering munitions.
