TL;DR
Senior Staff Engineer, Environmental Control Systems (RX) (R5905) (Aerospace ECS): Owning the architecture, analysis, design, integration, testing, and flight delivery of environmental control and vehicle thermal-fluid systems with an accent on first-principles thermodynamics, aerothermal design, and supplier execution. Focus on sizing and modeling complex cooling systems, validating hardware through qualification and flight testing, and solving thermal-fluid anomalies through rapid root-cause investigation and design changes.

Location: Dallas, Texas; on-site. US Citizens Only with an active Secret or higher security clearance required.

Salary: $146,480–$219,720 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

  • Own environmental control system architecture and lead trade studies across vapor-cycle, air-cycle, passive, and ram-air solutions.
  • Design and analyze aircraft air inlets, scoops, ducting networks, ram-air circuits, and other thermal-fluid hardware.
  • Perform thermodynamic and heat-transfer calculations supported by one-dimensional fluid-thermal network models.
  • Specify ECS components, evaluate suppliers, manage technical execution, and support proposals and capture activities.
  • Define qualification and verification plans, design test rigs, support instrumentation and data acquisition, and execute test campaigns.
  • Analyze flight-test data, investigate root causes, resolve anomalies, and implement rapid design changes.

Requirements

  • US citizenship and an active Secret or higher clearance are required.
  • 8–15 years of direct experience developing aerospace environmental control or vehicle thermal-fluid systems.
  • B.S. or M.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer applied to aircraft or defense systems.
  • Experience with one-dimensional system modeling using tools such as Amesim, Flowmaster, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Experience with 3D CAD, routing, drawing release, PLM workflows, aerospace component sourcing, supplier management, and test setup development.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-310, RTCA DO-160, and SAE AIR/ARP standards.
  • Experience with Siemens NX or equivalent CAD tools such as CATIA or Creo.
