Programmer Analyst (SAS or R)

Location: 100% remote within the United States; candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL, or Washington, DC, and attend occasional in-person meetings, trainings, team events, and administrative or security-related activities.

Salary: $71,100–$100,000 yearly.

What you will do

• Develop SAS programs to validate surveillance, clinical, and research study data.
• Check datasets for required and extraneous variables, identify discrepancies, and verify data consistency.
• Create codebooks and data management plans.
• Run duplicate procedures and compare results against applicable data, metadata, coding, and output standards.
• Conduct geospatial and molecular HIV analysis and interpret results using R.
• Collaborate with analysts and federal partners on code development, data dissemination, reporting, and support for funded jurisdictions and community-based organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience with R or SAS, including strong demonstrated SAS experience and familiarity with R coding.
• Experience working with multiple data sources to assess data quality, accuracy, and completeness.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to obtain a NAC clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with HIV surveillance, behavioral or clinical surveillance, molecular data, or public health research.
• Previous work with CDC, HHS, or other federal or state health agencies.
• Master’s degree in public health, statistics, or a related field.
• Experience with Power BI dashboards and SAS-based reporting using PROC REPORT, PROC TABULATE, SAS macros, PROC SQL, formats, and informats.
• Experience with large document-based datasets and meticulous technical documentation.
