Location: Dallas, Texas, United States. Flexible work schedules and remote work options may be available depending on the role and employee eligibility.

What you will do

  • Lead data analysis activities across public health and nutrition research projects and provide strategic technical direction.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support data analysts and junior statisticians while overseeing quality assurance.
  • Design and optimize workflows for data collection, cleaning, analysis, documentation, reproducibility, and data governance.
  • Develop and apply advanced statistical methods, including multilevel models, mixed models for clustered randomized trials, longitudinal analysis, and other techniques for complex datasets.
  • Lead statistical analysis plans, power and sample size calculations, data quality assessments, and management of data from local, state, and national sources.
  • Prepare and review reports, manuscripts, presentations, visualizations, grant proposals, and analytic recommendations in collaboration with researchers and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, nutrition, statistics, clinical research, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience in data collection and analysis, including statistical modeling and research dataset management.
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, SPSS, Stata, or SAS, plus data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI and database applications.
  • Experience leading research manuscript preparation and supporting or securing grant funding.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, organization, prioritization, multitasking, and collaboration.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in nutrition epidemiology, public health, nutrition, statistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with local, state, and national datasets, including Texas health data, NHANES, WHI, or the Framingham Heart Study.
  • Experience developing valid and reliable composite scoring or screening instruments.
  • Knowledge of the Land Grant University System, community-campus partnerships, and Extension programs.
