TL;DR
Environmental Health & Safety Specialist I (Medtech): Implementing and maintaining environmental safety programs and policies to ensure regulatory compliance in a GMP manufacturing environment with an accent on hazardous waste management, safety inspections, and ISO 14001 standards. Focus on supporting occupational safety, ergonomic evaluations, and maintaining accurate safety metrics to foster a strong safety culture.
Location: Must be based in San Diego, California. This position is primarily onsite (4 days onsite, 1 day remote).
Salary: $28.50 - $33.00 per hour.

What you will do
- Implement and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage the Safety Data Sheet database and conduct regular chemical inventory audits.
- Perform periodic safety inspections and weekly hazardous waste inspections.
- Support the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and related audits.
- Assist with workers' compensation claims management and injury reporting.
- Conduct ergonomic evaluations and support safety training initiatives.
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Must be based in or able to commute to San Diego, California.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of Health and Safety experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work a Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST schedule.
Nice to have
- Coursework or degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene.
- Professional safety certification (e.g., CIH, CSP, ASP).
- Experience with hazardous waste management and handling.
