Environmental Health & Safety Specialist I (Medtech)

Location: Must be based in San Diego, California. This position is primarily onsite (4 days onsite, 1 day remote).

Salary: $28.50 - $33.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Implement and maintain environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Manage the Safety Data Sheet database and conduct regular chemical inventory audits.
• Perform periodic safety inspections and weekly hazardous waste inspections.
• Support the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and related audits.
• Assist with workers' compensation claims management and injury reporting.
• Conduct ergonomic evaluations and support safety training initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Must be based in or able to commute to San Diego, California.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2+ years of Health and Safety experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work a Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST schedule.

Nice to have

• Coursework or degree in Safety or Industrial Hygiene.
• Professional safety certification (e.g., CIH, CSP, ASP).
• Experience with hazardous waste management and handling.
