Technical Specialist - Battery State Estimation (Embedded/Automotive): Leading the development of algorithms, embedded software, and data analytics for high-voltage battery state estimation (SoC, SoH, SoP) across the EV portfolio with an accent on scalable, hardware-agnostic software architectures. Focus on improving range accuracy and battery durability through data-driven root cause analysis and virtual validation.

Location: Hybrid: Must report to Milford, MI at least three times per week

What you will do

• Lead technical development of Battery State Estimation features (SoC, SoH, SoP) and diagnostics for high-voltage systems.
• Develop high-quality embedded controls software using C/C++ based on strong software design principles.
• Drive battery data analytics to improve estimator performance and understand degradation trends.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable data flows, KPIs, and technical dashboards.
• Apply model-based and virtual validation to increase robustness and speed of learning.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical reviews to strengthen team capability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in EE, ME, ChemE, CS, Controls, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded controls, BMS, or battery analytics.
• Strong technical depth in state estimation (SoC, SoH, SoP) or battery modeling.
• Proficiency in C or C++ for embedded software development.
• Strong collaboration skills to influence across organizations.
• Must be based in or able to relocate to Milford, Michigan.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in a relevant engineering field.
• 8+ years of professional experience in the domain.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, and Python for modeling and data analysis.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and agile development environments.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion chemistries (LFP, LMR) and automotive protocols.
