Design Release Engineer (Vehicle Structures)

TL;DR

Design Release Engineer (Vehicle Structures): Driving the design, development, and launch of body and chassis structure components with an accent on end-to-end ownership of the vehicle lifecycle. Focus on balancing performance, cost, and weight while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Location: Hybrid (Warren, Michigan). Candidates are expected to work on-site at the Warren Tech Center at least three days per week.

What you will do

• Own the design release and execution of body/chassis structure components from concept through production.
• Lead technical development for components and new technologies within vehicle programs.
• Drive engineering decisions by balancing performance, cost, weight, and timing.
• Conduct design analysis and validate designs through testing and development activities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design studio, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and suppliers.
• Support prototype builds, vehicle integration, and production launch activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years of engineering experience in product development or design.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Warren, Michigan.
• No immigration sponsorship provided; must have permanent US work authorization.

Nice to have

• Experience in Body/Chassis structure components or related systems.
• Knowledge of DFMEA, GD&T, and Design for Six Sigma methodologies.
• Familiarity with advanced materials (high-strength steel, alloys) and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of FMVSS crash and regulatory requirements.
