Design Engineer (Aerospace/Defense)

Location: Orlando, Florida, United States; hybrid schedule with 50% telework and a 4/10 schedule, with every Friday off. US citizenship is required.

Rate: $55–$65 per hour on a non-benefitted W2 contract.

hirify.global is staffing a design engineering role for a top aerospace and defense client.

What you will do

• Design and integrate complex electronic hardware and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) boards.
• Create mechanical layouts, select connectors, and verify fit, clearance, and tolerance compliance using PTC Creo and Windchill.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and support Design for Manufacturability and Assembly reviews.
• Define and oversee test plans, integration activities, and board integration with enclosures.
• Prepare design documentation, manage bills of materials, and collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, reliability, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

• US citizenship required.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with CCA board mechanical design, connector selection, and manufacturing support.
• At least 3 years of experience with PTC Creo and Windchill.
• At least 3 years of experience with Zuken, IPC standards, and aerospace or defense product cycles.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, project-management, documentation, testing, and integration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with cable and harness design.
