Mechanical Design Engineer (Battery Systems)

TL;DR

Mechanical Design Engineer (Battery Systems): Designing and validating battery module mechanical and thermal systems for electrification programs with an accent on component integration and safety standards. Focus on translating mechanical requirements into production-ready designs and leading the development of high-voltage mechanical systems.

Location: Mossville, IL. Must be based in or be able to relocate to the USA. Onsite 5 days/week. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Translate mechanical system requirements into battery module designs through component and subsystem integration.
• Lead the development of battery module mechanical systems and manage commitments for key program deliverables.
• Conduct mechanical analysis, troubleshooting, and validation to ensure alignment with safety, regulatory, and reliability standards.
• Collaborate with internal and external suppliers utilizing the APQP process.
• Develop design parameters and technical specifications to optimize safety, quality, velocity, and cost.
• Oversee prototype fabrication, material selection, and failure analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
• Extensive experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and engineering simulation tools.
• Proven expertise in product design for manufacturing (MFG) and converting market requirements into technical designs.
• Strong analytical thinking skills for root cause analysis and complex problem resolution.
• Ability to work onsite in Mossville, IL 5 days a week.
• Must have valid US work authorization (sponsorship is not available).

Nice to have

• Experience in structural design, DFMEAs, and design release processes.
• Prior experience designing, releasing, and testing E+ES battery modules or packs.
