Focus on building frameworks, scaling search functions, and translating search presence into measurable audience and revenue growth.

Location: Must be based in the United States (East Coast preference; hybrid options available in New York, NY or Charlotte, NC). Must be able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.

Compensation: $175,000 – $250,000 per year + equity.

What you will do

• Define and drive the strategy for visibility in AI-generated answers, LLM citations, and emerging discovery surfaces.
• Lead the existing SEO function while evolving capabilities toward a unified AEO/GEO/SEO strategy.
• Build and maintain a roadmap for winning visibility across platforms like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.
• Manage and develop a high-performing search team, setting the bar for execution quality and strategic thinking.
• Own reporting on organic traffic, share of voice, and the downstream revenue impact of search channels.
• Partner with editorial and content teams to ensure content is structured and authoritative for AI inclusion.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience leading search teams with a proven track record of building and scaling search functions.
• Deep understanding of how AI-powered answer engines work and how content is cited by LLMs.
• Strong SEO literacy covering technical, content, and authority signals.
• Must be based in the United States and able to work Eastern Standard Time hours.
• Executive presence with the ability to articulate strategy and opportunities to senior leadership.
• Builder mentality with the ability to bring structure to ambiguous environments.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services or other regulated verticals.
• Familiarity with structured data, schema markup, and entity-based SEO.
• Proficiency with BI tools like Looker or Tableau for reporting.
