TL;DR

Head Of Everyday Banking Compliance (Banking): Leading a team of compliance specialists to ensure adherence to core regulatory requirements for retail banking products with an accent on BCOBS, PSR, PROD, and Consumer Duty. Focus on interpreting complex regulations, providing independent risk challenge, and developing a center of excellence for risk management.

Location: Hybrid. Must be based in or near Edinburgh, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, or Leeds (attendance at Risk Hubs required 40% of the time)

What you will do

  • Lead a team of banking and payments compliance specialists supporting the Everyday Banking business.
  • Act as the Group’s risk lead on current account and savings products, managing relationships with regulators.
  • Interpret new and existing regulations (BCOBS, PSR, PROD, Consumer Duty) to anticipate impacts on Group strategy.
  • Oversee the measurement, monitoring, and reporting of Conduct & Compliance Risks, providing independent challenge to risk decisions.
  • Develop and implement a risk and control oversight plan to ensure adherence to relevant laws.
  • Provide broader leadership to the Conduct, Compliance and Operational Risk function as part of the Extended Leadership Team.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services, primarily in retail banking risk and control functions (Legal, Compliance, Risk).
  • 5+ years in a Senior Leadership role at the Head of or Director level within compliance or a similar function.
  • Expert knowledge of BCOBS, PSR, PROD, and the Consumer Duty.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex regulatory issues simply and provide actionable, risk-based advice to senior leaders.
  • Strong experience in team management and direct engagement with senior business executives.

  • Legal qualifications.
  • Experience deploying AI in compliance or managing digital wallets and customer-facing AI agents.
  • Experience with acquisition activity and integration within a scaled bank.
