TL;DR

Senior Counsel, Employment & Litigation (Robotics): Providing strategic legal guidance on employment law and managing litigation matters for a sidewalk robot delivery company with an accent on California employment law, wage and hour requirements, and dispute resolution. Focus on managing all phases of employment-related litigation, drafting compliance policies, and leading internal workplace investigations.

Location: Remote (Must be based in the United States; availability during Pacific Time business hours is expected)

Compensation: $175K – $195K • Offers Equity

What you will do

  • Manage all phases of employment-related litigation, including wage and hour class actions and PAGA representative actions.
  • Provide day-to-day employment law counsel to the HR department on hiring, performance management, and terminations.
  • Draft and update employment policies, handbooks, and separation agreements to maintain compliance with California law.
  • Lead internal workplace investigations into discrimination, harassment, and other misconduct, preparing formal reports.
  • Manage the company's response to administrative charges filed with the CRD, EEOC, and Labor Commissioner.
  • Develop training programs for leadership on anti-harassment, anti-discrimination, and wage and hour compliance.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree and active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
  • Must be based in the United States.
  • Minimum of 8 years of employment law experience with a significant focus on California statutes.
  • Demonstrated litigation experience including motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Experience counseling business clients on employee relations and accommodation processes.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • 10+ years of employment law experience, including at least 3 years in-house.
  • Specific experience handling PAGA representative actions and California wage and hour class actions.
  • Familiarity with employment law requirements across multiple U.S. states and Canadian provinces.
