Director, Software Engineering (SaaS)

Location: Hybrid role based at Greenbank House, Swan Lane, Hindley Green, Wigan, WN2 4AR, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Lead four engineering departments covering architecture, software development, QA, databases, and monitoring.
• Define engineering strategy and roadmaps with Product, QA, and Architecture stakeholders.
• Drive automation, CI/CD, automated testing, software development standards, and release quality benchmarks.
• Oversee architecture, design, security, scalability, and reliability across a portfolio of more than 10 B2B supply chain integration systems.
• Lead delivery execution, capacity planning, performance improvement, sprint routines, and resolution of high-priority issues.
• Build an accountable, autonomous engineering culture across distributed teams in Europe, Vietnam, China, and the United States.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 5 years in engineering leadership and experience leading global teams.
• Experience delivering SaaS or enterprise B2B products and owning releases for live, customer-facing platforms with zero-disruption requirements.
• Expertise in development frameworks and languages such as Java, C#, .NET, Node.js, or Python.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, development processes, governance, compliance, and audit-driven development.
• Experience improving engineering velocity, scaling agile processes, and optimizing workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience.

• Experience with integration platforms, particularly in supply chain.
• Experience leading transformational engineering initiatives and creating technical roadmaps.
