Process Engineer IV (Chemical)

Location: Onsite in Suffolk, Virginia, United States

Compensation: $93,530 – $137,181 plus discretionary bonuses

What you will do

• Assist in commissioning and startup activities for new plant processes, including procedure development and staff training.
• Troubleshoot process and equipment issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Monitor operations to improve safety, quality, throughput, and equipment reliability.
• Provide engineering support for capital projects, including PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment sizing.
• Participate in EHS programs, including PSM/RMP, site audits, and safety investigations.
• Maintain a rotating on-call schedule to provide off-hours technical support.

Requirements

• BS Degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience in chemical process design or regulated chemical manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of Federal and State regulations (EPA, RCRA, DOT, OSHA).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
• Strong commitment to process safety and zero-incident mindset.

Nice to have

• Experience with Pi and Delta V/DCS software.
• Expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Deep understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM).
