Process Design Lead (Fusion Energy)

Salary: $147,000–$182,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the architecture, design, procurement, installation, and validation of Orion’s fuel cycle systems.
• Set the technical direction for separation, vacuum, and cryogenic fuel cycle processes.
• Drive design risk reduction through pilot-scale testing and validation with Fuel Cycle Operations and R&D teams.
• Collaborate with Special Projects, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and other engineering teams to define interfaces and deliver integrated system designs.
• Establish processes for design reviews, bills of design, risk analysis, mitigations, and management of change.
• Plan schedules and priorities while mentoring engineers and supporting their technical and career development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in an engineering leadership role.
• Experience designing, delivering, and integrating pilot- or commercial-scale process systems.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and balancing design, validation testing, and development projects in parallel.
• Hands-on familiarity with chemical, mechanical, thermal, and/or fluid systems engineering.
• Demonstrated mentorship and ability to coach and develop engineers, with comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment.
