Senior Android Engineer (Kotlin)

Location: New York City, United States; hybrid with onsite work in NYC 2–3 days per week

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 per year, excluding equity and variable pay

What you will do

• Develop and continuously improve the rider Android application, including booking, account management, and core rider journeys.
• Collaborate with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to deliver reliable, user-friendly mobile experiences.
• Architect and evolve mobile infrastructure services, with attention to app architecture, performance, and memory management.
• Diagnose and resolve critical production issues in live environments.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and share Android development expertise.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on Android development experience.
• Deep proficiency in Kotlin and strong knowledge of the Android application lifecycle, including activities, fragments, view models, and services.
• Experience with Android architecture patterns, Jetpack Compose, RESTful APIs, performance optimization, memory management, and complex debugging.
• Knowledge of concurrent programming with Kotlin Coroutines or RxJava.
• Experience with Location Services and Google Maps API; familiarity with Mapbox and other mapping tools.
• Strong collaboration, ownership, mentoring, and proactive problem-solving skills.
