Staff Software Engineer (Android)

hirify.global is a high-growth SaaS company building an integrated public safety platform for dispatch, law enforcement, forensics, courts, and related workflows.

What you will do

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Android engineers.
• Design and architect complex Android applications for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop robotics-enabled public safety solutions involving drones, body-worn cameras, and other hardware.
• Integrate REST, WebRTC, and other backend services while maintaining offline-first capabilities.
• Support hardware configurations ranging from smartphones to headless single-board computers.
• Oversee CI/CD pipelines, release processes, documentation, and continuous engineering improvements.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of Android development experience, including technical leadership of an engineering team.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack libraries such as CameraX and Compose.
• Strong knowledge of asynchronous and reactive programming, including Flows or RxJava.
• Familiarity with Firebase Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, and GitHub or GitLab-based CI/CD tools.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate on problem decomposition.
• Successful completion of a fingerprint-based CJIS background check and maintenance of required security clearances are conditions of employment.

Nice to have

• Experience with connected hardware, IoT devices, or retail terminals.
• Experience with ArcGIS, Mapbox, MQTT, or WebRTC.
• Experience with geographically dispersed engineering teams and adjacent platforms such as Fire OS and iOS.
• FAA or Transport Canada remote pilot certification with flight experience.
• Experience using AI tooling in development workflows.
