TL;DR
Java Engineer (Fintech): Developing and maintaining mission-critical real-time payment processing components for a high-volume platform with an accent on resilience, scalability, and correctness. Focus on implementing message-driven integrations, handling ISO 20022 standards, and ensuring end-to-end ownership of services within a 24/7 production environment.
Location: Must be based in Romania (Bucharest or Cluj-Napoca) with a hybrid work model.

What you will do
- Design and develop Java-based real-time processing components for payment systems.
- Implement and maintain message-driven integrations using Kafka, MQ, and APIs.
- Manage ISO 20022 payment messages and ensure compliance with IT risk and security standards.
- Take end-to-end ownership of user stories from analysis and development to testing and production support.
- Participate in incident analysis, root cause investigations, and continuous system improvements.
- Collaborate with SRE and product teams in an agile Scrum environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Java development (Java 17/21).
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Must be based in Romania.
- Experience with Spring, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
- Proficiency in TDD, BDD, and CI/CD tools.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working in Scrum teams.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of ISO 20022 standards.
- Experience in financial market group treasury.
- Exposure to observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field.
