TL;DR

Principal Engineer (Structural QA/QC): Overseeing structural quality assurance and governance across 30+ industrial facilities with an accent on repair remediation, contractor oversight, and compliance with industry standards. Salary: $145,000–$170,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop and implement standard QA/QC work processes for structural repair activities across multiple facilities.
  • Provide technical reviews of repair scopes, drawings, and engineering packages to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct field inspections and collaborate with certified weld inspectors to validate repair quality.
  • Perform structural risk analyses, identify nonconformances, and track corrective actions.
  • Coordinate across engineering, operations, and maintenance groups to align on repair priorities and budgets.
  • Build and mentor a multidisciplinary QA/QC team to manage quality governance across the facility portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering required; PE license preferred.
  • 7+ years of structural engineering experience in industrial environments like power generation or petrochemical.
  • Demonstrated experience in QA/QC and contractor/vendor oversight.
  • Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and structural risk analysis.
  • Ability to travel approximately 30-40% of the time to various facility sites.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills for reporting to stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with nondestructive testing (NDT) methods.
  • Experience with risk-based inspection (RBI) or reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
  • Knowledge of industrial safety standards and contractor management practices.
