Structural Engineer

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; four days in-office, with flexibility to work outside the office on Fridays

Salary: $84,700–$131,300 USD per year

What you will do

• Develop structural designs for new and existing building types from concept through construction completion.
• Prepare engineering calculations, structural system layouts, reports, and design narratives.
• Coordinate structural designs with architects, MEP engineers, clients, and other disciplines.
• Produce construction documents using Revit and prepare or review specifications.
• Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals, and conduct site visits when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• Licensed Structural Engineer (SE).
• 7+ years of experience designing structural systems for new and existing buildings.
• Experience with concrete, masonry, steel, and wood materials, including gravity and lateral systems.
• Working knowledge of structural software such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, ADAPT, RISA, and Enercalc.
• Strong problem-solving, creativity, attention to detail, and written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural/Structural Engineering.
• Experience or interest in sustainable building design.
• Experience with BIM and Autodesk Revit workflows.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
