Sr. Staff Thermo-Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductors)

What you will do

• Perform advanced thermo-mechanical FEA simulations to evaluate stress, strain, and structural integrity of test sockets, thermal heads, and package interfaces.
• Lead warpage and deformation analysis for multi-material assemblies, accounting for CTE mismatch and nonlinear material behavior.
• Develop thermal cycling and mechanical fatigue models to predict long-term reliability, including creep and interface degradation.
• Correlate simulation results with mechanical testing, warpage metrology, and strain measurements to refine models.
• Collaborate with thermal, packaging, and manufacturing teams to identify mechanical risk drivers and recommend design improvements.
• Document and communicate technical results through reports, design reviews, and executive summaries.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years of professional experience, or Master's/PhD with 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
• Deep expertise in thermo-mechanical simulation and structural FEA for complex, multi-material systems.
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of solid mechanics, material behavior, heat-induced stress, and reliability physics.
• Experience with semiconductor packaging, test infrastructures, or handler-integrated mechanical systems.
• Must be eligible to access export-controlled information as defined under U.S. export control laws (EAR).

Nice to have

• Scripting or automation experience using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools.
• Prior technical leadership on cross-organizational infrastructure or platform programs.
