Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Warren, Michigan. This role is hybrid and requires regular on-site presence.

What you will do
- Specify technical requirements for transmission sealing, vent systems, and thermal runaway mitigation components.
- Develop written material specifications and release materials for production via drawing signoff.
- Facilitate and interpret laboratory testing, including chemistry, physical testing, and failure analysis.
- Collaborate with suppliers, engineering functions, and plant personnel to drive cost and product improvements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to support build programs and problem-solving.
- Drive sustainable material development for plastic components used in battery packs.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- 2+ years of related work experience in engineering or materials science.
- Strong knowledge of polymeric materials and engineering design principles.
- Must be authorized to work in the US; GM does not provide immigration sponsorship for this role.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment in Warren, Michigan.
- Strong analytical skills for data analysis, design of experiments, and project management.
Nice to have
- 3+ years of related engineering experience.
- Knowledge of elastomers and EV battery systems.
- Experience with plastics and DFSS certification.
- Post-undergraduate training or education.
