Director, Payment Strategy & Partnerships (Payments)

Location: Redmond, Washington, United States; hybrid with 3 days per week in-office

Salary: USD $130,900–$277,200 per year across the U.S.; USD $165,600–$303,600 per year in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.

What you will do

• Define and execute a multi-year global payments strategy aligned with commerce and product priorities.
• Build and prioritize roadmaps covering payment methods, instruments, routing, and optimization initiatives.
• Lead strategic relationships with processors, acquirers, gateways, regional providers, card networks, and issuing banks.
• Partner with product, engineering, commerce risk, treasury, and operations teams on scalable implementation, fraud controls, settlement efficiency, liquidity, and compliance.
• Establish reporting and experimentation for authorization rates, conversion, acceptance costs, fraud, chargebacks, and partner SLAs.
• Lead and develop a globally distributed team, including succession planning and organizational scaling.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business and 10+ years of experience in treasury, finance, banking, or accounting, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of global card ecosystems, acquirer models, authorization flows, fraud controls, and cross-border payments.
• Experience building strategic partnerships with financial institutions and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Ability to define and execute multi-year strategies in complex, matrixed environments.
• Experience operating globally within a technology platform or marketplace, including Asia-Pacific and European markets.
• Experience leading global teams and influencing executive stakeholders.

Nice to have

• 15+ years of experience in payments, fintech, commerce platforms, or financial services.
• MBA or another advanced degree.
• Understanding of evolving payment technologies and regulatory landscapes.
• Track record of delivering revenue uplift and cost optimization through payment initiatives.
