Associate Director - Retail Performance Improvement

Location: Boston, MA, United States; ability to travel to clients as needed.

Salary: $150,000–$250,000 annually, plus potential discretionary annual incentive.

What you will do

• Collaborate with the Retail Performance Improvement team and client personnel to achieve engagement objectives.
• Perform financial modeling, operational analysis, revenue growth analysis, and working capital assessments.
• Develop strategies for operational processes, technology optimization, store labor, organizational design, assortment, and inventory performance.
• Manage junior team members across multiple engagement workstreams, including modeling and client presentations.
• Lead the preparation of reports, written analyses, presentations, and other client deliverables.
• Develop innovative retail and consumer service offerings using a pragmatic, hands-on consulting approach.

Requirements

• 9+ years of management consulting experience with a retail focus, or 12+ years combining retail industry and consulting experience.
• Experience in retail, direct-to-consumer, consumer goods, or consulting engagements serving similar clients.
• Expertise in one or more areas including direct sourcing, consumer analytics, digital experience, marketing, personalization, digital commerce, back-office operations, distribution and transportation, store and omnichannel operations, or indirect procurement.
• Experience developing and managing financial and operational analyses and implementing improvements based on findings.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business, accounting or finance, management, engineering, economics, retail management, supply chain, or a related field.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, analytical, data synthesis, and stakeholder management skills; high proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or MBA.
• Experience with Access, Alteryx, Tableau, SQL, or Python.
