Relay Engineer (Power Engineering)

What you will do

• Design protective relaying systems for substations to detect and isolate faults on transmission and distribution systems.
• Perform relay setting calculations, coordination studies, and short circuit studies.
• Maintain short circuit models and protection engineering databases.
• Support the NERC compliance program and evaluate relay performance following system events.
• Oversee the commissioning of new relay equipment and resolve protection and control system operation issues.
• Assist field staff in construction, maintenance, and system restoration during storm events.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Dayton, Ohio.
• Open to all experience levels, including Spring, Summer, and Fall 2026 graduates.

Nice to have

• Experience in power engineering and utility operations (transmission, distribution).
• Familiarity with digital logic and/or Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Willingness to take the FE exam to pursue a Professional Engineering License.
