Senior Agent Design Engineer (AI)

Location: United States

Salary: $110,000–$125,000 per year, depending on level and experience; additional location-based compensation may apply in certain locations.

What you will do

• Lead complex, ambiguous, and high-risk agent initiatives spanning multiple teams, markets, or strategic accounts.
• Build and own agentic workflows, including multi-agent loops, automated evaluation pipelines, and autonomous tooling.
• Define reusable agent design methods, evaluation approaches, and quality measurements.
• Run client and partner onboarding and improve customer self-service enablement.
• Mentor Agent Designers, own an area of the Agent Design roadmap, and translate recurring delivery problems into Product and Engineering priorities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in a technical or design-adjacent role at a technology company.
• Ability to build, test, debug, deploy, and review integrations in Python.
• Practical experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, tool use, retrieval, and context management.
• Hands-on experience building and evaluating agentic systems, including orchestration, tool-calling, multi-step workflows, automated evaluation pipelines, and measurement of non-deterministic behavior.
• Experience managing external client relationships and explaining design decisions and trade-offs.
• Strong attention to language, tone, consistency, and interaction quality.

Nice to have

• Voice interaction expertise, including latency, barge-in, ASR errors, and recovery.
• Experience enabling non-technical users to self-serve on a platform.
• Knowledge of analytics or data science, including data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.
• Background in linguistics, interaction design, human-computer interaction, or a related field.
