What you will do

• Lead and develop the Manchester Crime & Regulatory team alongside the Head of Department.
• Manage a complex caseload including inquests, public inquiries, and regulatory defense.
• Drive strategic growth, profitability, and brand-building for the practice.
• Strengthen relationships with internal partners, insurers, brokers, and corporate stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop junior team members to ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Oversee governance, compliance, and quality assurance for the department.

Requirements

• Must be a qualified lawyer with strong technical depth in at least two core areas: inquests, H&S, professional discipline, environmental regulation, licensing, or business crime.
• Proven track record of client management, business development, and team leadership.
• Experience managing insurer and legal expense insurance relationships or familiarity with referral-based practice.
• Commercial instinct with the ability to balance quality with profitability.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
