TL;DR
Legal Counsel: Supporting drafting, negotiation, and advisory work for licensing and commercial contracts across the Americas with an accent on intellectual property, data privacy, and litigation risk management. Focus on providing business-partner legal guidance, managing contract workflows, and supporting subpoenas, investigations, and dispute strategy.
Location: New York (Hybrid Working Model)
Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 (annual base)

What you will do
- Draft, negotiate, and support licensing agreements for academic, corporate, and government customers across North and South America.
- Review, draft, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of commercial contracts, including acquisition and exploitation of intellectual property rights.
- Provide trusted commercial and strategic legal advice to business stakeholders across executive and operational levels.
- Perform risk analysis and provide recommendations for sales leadership for the Americas.
- Support litigation matters, subpoenas, and internal investigations, including civil, commercial, regulatory, and employment disputes.
- Support discovery processes and review litigation-related documents; monitor case progress, deadlines, and budgets.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admitted Attorney & Member of the New York State Bar.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience at a law firm or in-house with general corporate/commercial/intellectual property matters.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to provide clear, accurate, and consistent legal advice.
- Strong legal research, analysis, and drafting skills; high integrity and professional ethics.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage organizational change, align stakeholders, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Publishing and media law experience (copyright, defamation, privacy/publicity, internet and social media).
- Spanish or Portuguese language proficiency.
- Experience negotiating and state/federal contracting experience.
