Senior Corporate Counsel — Commercial & AI Data

Location: In-person in Seattle, five days a week

Base salary: $200,000–$300,000 per year, plus meaningful equity.

What you will do

• Draft, negotiate, and close commercial agreements, including data collection and licensing agreements, vendor and customer contracts, NDAs, and partnership agreements.
• Manage the contract workflow from intake through signature and keep multiple deals moving.
• Advise research and data teams on rights, permissions, restrictions, and data sourcing for AI training, evaluation, and product development.
• Provide guidance on privacy and data protection for audio, video, and other personal data, including consent, processing, retention, and deletion.
• Track developments in AI, data rights, and privacy and translate them into practical product and data-practice guidance.
• Develop contract templates, negotiation playbooks, and lightweight review processes, with occasional support for employment, IP, and office lease matters.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in commercial or technology transactions, ideally combining law firm and in-house experience.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills with experience independently managing multiple deals from start to finish.
• Practical experience with privacy, data protection, data processing agreements, and consent requirements.
• Experience with data licensing, data acquisition, or AI-related legal issues.
• JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership.
• Must work in person in Seattle five days a week.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with audio, video, or biometric data and related privacy and consent considerations.
• Experience supporting AI or machine learning teams on training-data rights and related agreements.
• Experience at an early-stage technology company, including building contracting processes and templates.
