What you will do
- Build deep product expertise across the Nature Portfolio journals, including subject relevance and positioning.
- Create target lists for new prospects across academic and government institutions.
- Partner with sales reps to develop strategic sales approaches, identify content gaps, and support upsell opportunities.
- Prepare and present customer assessments and journal recommendations to multiple stakeholder groups.
- Use business and pricing models to recommend suitable options and provide comparisons (e.g., cost, break-even, ROI).
- Support pipeline health through sales/business reporting and contribute to knowledge sharing across the Solution Specialists team.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (Master’s is a plus).
- Prior experience as a product expert or sales rep, ideally for science content products.
- Strong understanding of the Scientific, Technical, and Medical (STM) publishing market and knowledge of journals.
- Experience working in a research-related department in an academic or government institution.
- Business-level English and strong presentation skills for customers, local sales team, and management.
- Ability to travel within Japan (10–50% of work time) and occasionally outside Japan.
