Director of Software Engineering (Digital Payments)

Location: Paris, France; hybrid with three days per week onsite

What you will do

• Lead a global team of more than 20 software developers, QA professionals, and managers.
• Oversee development and delivery of the Digital Card Solution, including instant digital card issuance, push provisioning to Apple Pay and Google Pay, secure in-app card display, and tap-to-pay experiences.
• Coordinate complex projects with cross-functional teams and the Instant Financial Issuance team in Shakopee, Minnesota.
• Apply Agile Scrum and phase-gate methodologies, manage priorities, and reduce technical and delivery risks.
• Partner with Product Management and Product Marketing on roadmaps, product strategy, innovation, Operations, Professional Services, and Sales support.
• Coach managers and individual contributors, advise executive leadership on staffing and budgets, and act as a level-three escalation point for customer issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience leading large software teams, 5+ years in software development, and 5+ years in project management.
• Experience leading innovation-focused teams in complex development environments and mentoring technology leaders.
• Expertise in Agile Scrum, cross-functional project leadership, problem-solving, solution design, secure development lifecycles, threat modeling, and web application security assessments.
• Experience with AWS, Java, C++, XML, web services, iOS, and Android.
• Fluent French and English required. International travel of up to 5% is expected.

• Master’s degree in Engineering or an MBA.
• Experience developing cloud-based solutions for banking, payments, tokenization, and digital wallets.
• Experience leading complex software architectures and platforms.
• Scrum Master background and strong situational leadership skills.
