Staff Software Developer (AI)

Location: Remote for residents of WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, VA, CA, or NC. Washington residents within reasonable driving distance of Tukwila must work from headquarters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; other approved locations are remote.

Salary: $171,700–$209,800 target pay range annually; full pay range of $133,100–$248,300 annually. Performance-based compensation incentives may also apply.

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction and expansion of new AI products.
• Design scalable, cloud-agnostic systems using Python, AWS, LLMs, and retrieval-based architectures.
• Strengthen AI foundations, including segmentation, retrieval, and data organization infrastructure.
• Collaborate with contact center, retail, cybersecurity, operations, marketing, and other stakeholders.
• Mentor senior engineers, establish coding standards, lead code reviews, and communicate decisions to stakeholders and the AI Council.
• Improve security, testing, CI/CD, reliability, and performance while evaluating emerging AI technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least eight years of experience designing software and writing production code in team environments.
• Expertise in secure development, scalable solutions, distributed systems, SOLID principles, OOP, and SOA patterns.
• Expertise in at least two of Python, .NET, C#, Node, or JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
• Experience with public cloud platforms, containers and orchestration, CI/CD tools, SQL, large datasets, ETL, analytics engines, Git, and TDD.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams through the SDLC, with strong written and verbal communication; full-time availability and occasional travel are required.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience presenting at industry conferences.
• Familiarity with agent-based systems, user interaction models, data segmentation, and collection independence.
• Experience with startup-style, agile, autonomous teams and adoption of emerging technologies.
