AI Software Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Tysons, Virginia, United States

Salary: $120,000–$150,000 annually

What you will do

• Prototype, customize, and refine generative AI and LLM-powered capabilities.
• Develop agentic AI systems, including model selection, agent creation, tool calling, response synthesis, and background agents.
• Collaborate with data engineers, software engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders to deliver operational AI systems.
• Automate cloud model deployment using Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration.
• Monitor deployed AI systems, tune performance, and improve reliability and scalability.
• Write clean, documented, reproducible code following industry and federal guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a related field.
• 1–5 years of hands-on experience delivering AI/ML solutions.
• Experience with generative AI, LLMs, tool calls using MCP, and agentic frameworks.
• Strong understanding of AI APIs including OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Bedrock.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Python, with familiarity with relevant AI, web, testing, and backend libraries.
• Experience with AWS or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and U.S. citizenship with eligibility for a DoD Secret clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Terraform, OpenTofu, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
• Exposure to data engineering, data science, UI/UX, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.
• Knowledge of federal cybersecurity, RMF, FedRAMP, or related regulatory frameworks.
• Curiosity about emerging AI innovations and a focus on mission impact.
