Principal System Architect - MedDevice

What you will do

• Define the multiyear architecture strategy for cloud, application, data, integration, and ML/AI infrastructure across product software systems.
• Establish architectural principles, reference architectures, and governance standards for reliability, performance, interoperability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance.
• Guide systems decomposition, API strategies, data models, cloud architectures, and major technical design decisions.
• Bridge on-device and off-device systems across firmware, cloud services, clinical workflows, applications, and data flows.
• Provide architectural oversight throughout the SDLC and lead investigations into complex scalability, reliability, data, and workflow issues.
• Partner with product, security, privacy, regulatory, quality, clinical, data science, and infrastructure leaders while mentoring engineering leads and architects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive software engineering or architecture experience with large-scale distributed systems, cloud architectures, and modern application platforms.
• Experience architecting regulated or high-reliability systems, preferably in medical, healthcare technology, or a similar domain.
• Expertise in microservices, event-driven systems, data pipelines, observability, DevOps/SRE practices, and cloud-native technologies.
• Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor, influence executive stakeholders without direct authority, and communicate complex technical concepts in business-relevant terms.
• Success partnering with cross-functional leaders across product, security, quality, regulatory, data science, and infrastructure.

Nice to have

• Experience with FDA, EU MDR, IEC 62304, HIPAA, and related medical software regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with AI/ML platform architecture, model deployment, and clinical decision support software.
• Experience integrating architectures with medical devices, clinical systems, EHRs, FHIR, or HL7.
• Leadership experience scaling complex, multiproduct software ecosystems.
