What you will do
- Develop new business opportunities and expand regional coverage across the Kansai region, including Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of small to mid-sized opportunities through outbound prospecting, referrals, and partner networks.
- Act as the primary local point of contact and trusted face of for clients in the region.
- Convert opportunities into recurring and scalable business across Ocean (FCL/LCL) and Air freight.
- Manage early-stage account stability and onboarding for newly acquired FOB accounts in a hybrid AM/AE capacity.
- Collaborate closely with Tokyo-based commercial leadership and operations teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management, ideally in freight forwarding, logistics, or 3PL.
- Proven track record of winning new business in Japan, specifically with accounts in the Kansai region.
- Native or business-level Japanese (verbal and written).
- Conversational to professional English proficiency.
- Working knowledge of Ocean and Air freight to articulate value to procurement decision-makers.
Nice to have
- Experience selling technology-enabled or digital freight platforms.
- Familiarity with trade flows between Japan and China, Southeast Asia, US, and EU.
- Prior experience as part of a country launch or new office build-out.
