TL;DR
Development & Technical Manager (Azure/SaaS): Leading the modernisation of legacy Windows applications into secure web-based and cloud-based SaaS solutions with an accent on Azure infrastructure, architecture, and security. Focus on managing a growing development team, establishing CI/CD and authentication practices, and applying AI-assisted development tools responsibly.
Location: Fully remote within the UK, with occasional travel to Aberdeen for planning sessions, team meetings, and key business discussions.

What you will do
- Define and lead the technical strategy for modernising legacy Windows applications into web-based and SaaS platforms.
- Provide architectural oversight, establish coding standards, and approve technical designs and major architectural decisions.
- Manage, mentor, and support the growth of a development team from 2 to 4 developers across UK and international locations.
- Own Azure cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, environment management, and security practices.
- Work with senior leadership and stakeholders to translate business objectives into technical plans and oversee delivery.
- Promote responsible use of AI-assisted tools for code analysis, refactoring, testing, documentation, and internal tooling.
Requirements
- Proven software development experience with legacy desktop technologies such as VB6, WinForms, or .NET.
- Experience modernising legacy systems into web or cloud-based platforms.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, with Azure preferred; AWS or GCP experience is also acceptable.
- Experience with modern web technologies, API design, integration patterns, OAuth2, OpenID Connect, and JWT.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based workflows, automated testing, and developer leadership.
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with VB6 or WinForms.
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS applications, microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, or serverless architectures.
- Experience with data migration or database modernisation.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or ChatGPT.
